Atlanta Black Star is Black Owned !!! Now I Support Them!

And now that I know Atlanta Black Star is one of the few black owned websites, they have my support, because black social networks are too rare in this day and age. More black websites need to link together and black websites need to help black websites prosper. Atlanta Blackstar

Support black websites and businesses. Make sure you investigate the websites you do business with and attend regularly. It's all too easy for a white person to come along and create a website and target black audiences. We have to do better than that! We have a right to be suspicious and ask questions that effect us as a black community. We have a right to join and become a part of black social networks as the resources are lacking. We have a right to move forward.

Who owns Atlanta Black Star? This isn't going to be another rant about how all the major black social sites are owned and operated by white people... changed my mind. It is going to be exactly about that.

So I started running into these cool and fascinatingly descriptive stories about black people and our struggles. I have to admit, I was on the Atlanta Star bandwagon myself. Then some stories just didn't feel right. I noticed the content about black history was there, but then I realized that somehow it seemed white washed. But that couldn't be. It was a black owned website right? Yes it was, however, I was entitled to ask to speculate and make certain of it. Tired of black people simply being targeted by media that tries to appeal to the black audience just to make certain that white people still control what black people think and how they respond. Tired of black people simply being targeted by white media that either wants to control us or sell us something. It's time that black people become more aware!

I have been contacted by Neil Nelson directly and he is black. However, as black people we must ask ourselves these questions and not be afraid to ask these questions. We need to know who we are supporting and what these people stand for. It is in our best interest to know. Websites such as Blackpeoplemeet.com, Blackplanet.com and many others are not black owned and before we support these establishments, we must confirm them as a power move to uplift our people and truly be supportive of black media.

Atlanta Black Star is back on my good list and I was happy when I was contacted and able to confirm that the website was black owned.
