Black Twitter is on and popping. And we are talking about the actual Black Twitter app.

Black Twitter app reports that the results are not what they would expect though. It seems that the people who have gravitated towards empowering a Black Social Network have actually been Africans, mainly from South Africa. Black Americans are still a large portion of the networks base supporters but the numbers should be bigger, says a director of the website. "Black Americans as a whole, just really don't seem like they are truly ready for their own social network yet. Maybe it will take something like a boycott or an action by larger networks online before they are angry enough to go to a social network that was created just for them."

The news is sad but Africa is stepping up to the plate. Countries in Africa make up more than half of the networks users and fan base with Americans making up the other half. Another problem is that reach could be a problem. "Maybe if more Americans knew about Black Twitter and that it's a real thing, they would be more supportive and we can start the exodus from non Black social networks."

We all know that Black people need their own network. There has been a buzz about this around the internet for years. But the interest in gravitating towards a Black Social Network just isn't there right now. The Black community could be waiting for more technology on these sites, but the truth is, without their participation, this technology will never exist. Take Facebook for instance. The site is the largest social network on the planet right now but it started off as a simple forum like website that grew once the users grew. This is the evolution of websites. But Black websites are far behind because the interest and support just isn't there.

Most Black Social networks look pretty sad. There Alexa rating tells a story about the level of activity on the websites, and there pretty much is none. Though Black Twitter leads when it comes to Alexa rating, by far, the support team still feels like there needs to be more interest.

"When you are dealing with tens of thousands of people who use the network and wonder why you aren't in the millions yet, it can be very frustrating," points out one of the techies at Black Twitter. He said that there should be more of a buzz, especially since the website has garnered a high level of interest in its news platform in which they try to bring the most relevant news and history to their users. "Our supporters love the content that we provide. Now we say it's their turn and once they sign up, they need to go a step further and invite all their friends and post in groups on networks like Facebook. When Blacks see that other Black members are serious about creating the ultimate network and solution, they will be more motivated to be apart of the family which is what we want."

Black Twitter states that the more signups they get, the more lively and engaging the network becomes. They are also noticing longer retention on the website and the feedback is getting a lot better. The team at Black Twitter believes this revolutionary website will be a game changer as the site grows. "People attract more people," states one of the websites reps. "Black social networks will not survive unless there are people to support them."

One of the top heads at Black Twitter said, "This is just the beginning. We want to actually start up group funding in the coming weeks where we would like to award money to Black people on Black Twitter. We hope to make it a monthly or possibly even a weekly thing we can do. It all depends on the engagement and how serious our people are in terms of being progressive. We also want to offer as much opportunity within our establishment as we can. We want to give people jobs but before we can do that, we will need their support."

Black Twitter states that their objective is not to compete with mega sites such as Facebook or Twitter because they only appeal to a certain niche. "Our priority is empowering Black people. Everything else is secondary."

If you would like to support the Black social network movement, you can download their android app right here. Black Twitter recommends giving a high rating. "If we get high ratings then more people who find us on the app store will consider downloading our platform, adding to a higher number and quality of users who want Black empowerment today!"

The truth of the matter is that there is much Black people can get done a Black social network. They are not supposed to expect a perfect reproduction of Facebook, but be able to enjoy engaging on a platform that is for them in which they can help evolve into... not just a another Facebook or Twitter, but a vision that supports their own needs and ideas. Something by them for them. It's the first step to having a revolution, independent thinking and doing for self.
